Build This For $30 And You’ll Have The Perfect Excuse To Buy That ATV You’ve Been Dreaming Of

Hint: The money you will save building this yourself happens to be the same cost as a used ATV…

Have pickup truck, will travel? My truck is used for all sorts of things, especially when any of my friends move, but there are a few things I’d like to carry but can’t. One of them is an ATV, although my husband and I have long dreamed about getting one and starting out on a new line of adventures. Recently, I realized the only thing stopping us from making sense of getting one was the lack of a way to transport it. Since this lack of a way to get big wheeled things in the truck also gives him the perfect excuse not to take the lawnmower in to get fixed, I decided I’d better try to tackle this problem myself. I went shopping for truck ramps but was shocked to see the high price tags on what I had thought would be a relatively inexpensive item. No way am I paying 1k for a ramp for my truck.

Lo and behold, I found the answer to my problems on Youtube thanks to a guy who goes by “How To Bob” In a super easy to follow tutorial, he shows you how to use some wood and basic woodworking tools to build a super sturdy 4 foot by 8 foot ramp that will allow you to easily put a lawn mower, tractor or that ATV you’ve been dreaming about in your pickup truck.

Check it out and see for yourself. We tackled this project last weekend and I am proud to say the resulting ramp just may look better than his.  Considering you would pay $300 to $1000 for a truck ramp if you bought it premade, how can you not want to make your own for about $30. If you don’t believe in wasting money but do believe your truck should be outfitted properly, you need this ramp. It straps on and off easily so you can store it away in the garage when you don’t need it. Now that you’ve saved yourself $1000, time to start shopping Craigslist for ATVs, don’t you think? We are and I can’t wait until I get my hands on mine. (as well as a working lawnmower, which he begrudgingly loaded up on Monday to take away to the shop.
