I’ve never been a coffee drinker, tea has always been my hot beverage of choice. I was never tea obsessed until I discovered the Kitsilano location of DAVIDsTEA over 4 years ago. Everything about DAVIDsTEA attracted me.
I loved the story of a 20 something year old David, opening his first tea shop in Montreal, then opening one location after another across Canada (and now the US!). I was drawn to the bright colors (and especially the teal blue) that decorated the store and website. I appreciated the staff members who were so friendly (to the point that we became Facebook friends) and knowledgeable about tea.
What really made me fall hard for DAVIDsTEA though was that they presented tea in a fun, youthful way that I had never experienced before. Putting fun ingredients like caramel popcorn into Movie Night Tea, freeze dried ice cream bits into Birthday Cake Tea, dehydrated beetroot into Forever Nuts and candy pumpkins into Pumpkin Chai made me a DAVIDsTEA fan for life… and yes… I do own all of those teas.
When we moved into our new house I insisted that we buy a 4 cube by 4 cube Expedit bookshelf from Ikea so that I could display all of my tins of DAVIDsTEA in our dining room. New friends are usually surprised when I offer them a cup of tea and then show them the variety of options they have to chose from. Sooner or later I convert my friends to DAVIDsTEA drinkers.
I was recently in downtown Vancouver presenting young adult fiction titles to a group of YA Book Bloggers. After the event, our publicity intern, Little Miss, and I hit up the new (to us) downtown Pacific Centre location of DAVIDsTEA. The two of us were like kids in a candy store. I practically squealed when I saw this sign on the wall:
I chatted with the woman making my tea pop as she made it, she told me how easy they are to make at home and shared the recipe with me, so I decided that I would share it with you.
Tea in general and DAVIDsTEA in particular makes me feel creative. I’ve decided to start a regular post called Cup of Creativi-Tea. Today as my first Cup of Creativi-Tea I’ve decided to share with you the DAVIDsTEA Tea Pop Recipe.
DAVIDsTEA Tea Pop Recipe
- Your favorite tea (For my very first tea pop I tried Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait… it was SO GOOD!)
- Sparkling water/Soda Water
- Boiling Water
- Brew a cup of your favorite tea following tea’s instructions for water temperature. Use 4 times the amount of loose tea or tea bags that you would normally use for a cup. I like brewing my tea in a Steeper.
- Fill a glass with ice, when tea is steeped pour the tea over the ice until your cup is halfway full. Sweeten if desired.
- Fill remaining half cup with sparkling water (I love using my SodaStream soda maker for this.)
- Add more ice as needed.
Makes 2 Tea Pops! One for you and one for a friend.
