Papers Please Soundtrack
Papers, Please have a total of 84 sound effects consisting of sounds produced in the booth by various products as well as ambient noise and speech of characters. The soundtrack of the game is made up of three songs, The Arstotzkan anthem, the victory theme, and the death theme.
1- Arstotzkan anthem
In the primary menu and in the official trailer, the Arstotzkan anthem was produced on a Yamaha MOX6 synthesizer and was published on YouTube on January 14, 2013. Lucas Pope released the sheet music on Twitter.
The song begins with a slow march rhythm produced by bass saxhorns to represent the really slow flow of in line entrants and how tired and depressed they are due to the last six years of war.
The anthem runs quicker and quicker with keyboards, pizzicato strings, and synth metallic voice that tells “Where Am I?” from a Yamaha MOX. Ultimately, we have an explosion of all tools with the addition of military band ones, such as drums and trumpets to convey emotions of tension, terrorist attacks, and the obvious calm that transforms into uncontrollable rage against Arstotzka.
2- Victory theme
The victory theme is a light-hearted song that performs 18 to 20 ending cutscenes. Because the good endings are rare and hard to earn, unlike the Death theme, there is no semblance of any darker undertones on the track, as the inspector brought peace in the unusual, good endings.
3- Death theme
The death theme that plays during the cutscenes of endings 1 to 17. It starts out getting louder, like a song on a radio. The song is surprisingly upbeat at first but still sounds like a song that would be played on state broadcast radio. It then gets lower to emphasize the sad fate of the inspector. The song then returns to its upbeat form before the end. Despite its rather energetic nature, the track maintains the eerie feeling of a grave mistake throughout.
