This quilt has been called stack and whack, pinwheel, turning star and flying kite. No matter what it’s called, I think it’s one of the coolest quilt patterns ever.
When I made mine, I made it with similar colors that she uses in her tutorial, with a white background and I trimmed it with a red border and it is my absolute favorite quilt of all the quilts I’ve made by far.
The Stack & Whack method involves taking rectangular pieces of fabric that have nearly identical motif prints to make the Stack then Whack (cutting) pieces from this Stack and arranging them to create a kaleidoscope effect.
Don’t you love using up those scraps? If you’re anything like me, I wouldn’t dare throw away those precious scraps…there’s too many opportunities to use them!
