The patio is generally a tricky part in the home because that’s where we take guests for outdoor activities yet its not where we stay full time so we often find ourselves not giving it adequate attention and it ends up looking shabby. Don’t leave your patio when you can make your own DIY outdoor furniture and it still looks as great and professional as any other. There are much cheaper ways we could do our patio with DIY and they are very easy to do if you have a little time on your hands
If you have an outdoor space where you want to create a haven but don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on fancy patio furniture, build an easy bench with basic construction materials. Concrete cinder blocks and wood posts make a clever seating arrangement, and no tools are needed. Though cinder blocks can be heavy, this project is easy to make and doesn’t take long to complete.Everyone knows that cinder blocks are a building material. They are weather-resistant, durable, relatively easy to handle and inexpensive. They are perfect for using in gardening and landscaping: for cinder block retaining wall, garden privacy walls, flower beds, firepits, raised garden beds, garden furniture, decorative partitions and much more.I wanted my bench to be extra comfortable, so I opted to add a cushion. I found some outdoor fabric (about three yards, but check your measurements) at Hobby Lobby as well as foam cushions. I bought four of those, so that the seat would fit my bench. I added a small strip of fabric with a piece of Velcro on the ends so I could secure the seat to the cinder block ends.
This sure has been a great addition to our patio. I’ve really enjoyed sitting outside, in the evenings, on our new bench with a glass of iced tea and watching the moon and stars!
